ABSTRACT

Laryngeal amyloidosis is characterized by extracellular deposition of homogeneous and eosinophilic protein material in the form of fibrils which is usually composed of light chains of monoclonal antibodies. It is usually primary or localized but rarely associated with a systemic or generalized disease. Over two hundred cases have been reported in international literature and three cases in Korean literature. We present a case of laryngeal amyloidosis of AL(amyloid light chain) type that was treated with CO2 laser. We applied immunohistochemical study to exclude multiple myeloma.
