ABSTRACT |
Hematoma of the auricle is the result of closed trauma and if not treated properly the blood clot becomes organized and the ear remains permanently thickened, producing the cauliflower ear deformity. It have been treated by aspiration or incision and compression dressing, but unfortunately there is a frusratingly high rate of recurrence. We tried closed drainage system with continous negative pressure in the cases of otohematoma which had been recurred in spite of conventional treatments. The system was made using the vacuum tube and scalp vein set. Five cases were treated with this system and cured completely without any complications. This closed drainage system seemed to be one of the excellent procedures for treatment of the otohematoma.
