ABSTRACT

Laryngeal trauma is rare but complications are frequent and severe. Etiologic factors of blunt trauma to the human larynx are traffic accident, sport injuries, violent crime and so forth. Considerable attention has been given to laryngotracheal injuries during the last several years. There is the immediate threat to life from the airway injury, and even when appropriatly treate, the long term morbidity may be high. Early diagnosis and prompt management are essential to reduce morbidity and complications. But, the management of laryngeal trauma is controversial, with opinions varing on the method of immediate airway management, the preoperative work-up, the indications for non-operative management, the timing of repair. Postoperative management controversies include the type and duration of stenting technique. Recently the authors experienced a case of laryngeal fracture and reported with review of laryngeal.
