ABSTRACT

Zonographic studies were made on 10 patients with unilateral paralysis of the vocal cord. Each study was performed in inspiration, and expiration. ""E"" phonation and Valsalva maneuver. The following results were obtained from the study. 1) The level of the paralyzed cord was same or lower in inspiration & Valsalva maneuver, same or higher in expiration, same or higher except 1 case in ""E"" phonation. 2) The ventricle size of paralyzed site was enlarged in most of the cases. 3) The thickness of the paralyzed cord was thinner in most of the cases. 4) The vocal cord angle of paralyzed site was same or decreased in inspiration & Valsalva maneuver, same or increased except 1 case in expiration, same or increased in ""E"" phonation. 5) 6 cases(60%) showed the compensatory shifting of non-paralyzed cord in ""E"" phonation.
