ABSTRACT

The recent development of chemotherapy and antibiotic therapy has resulted in decreased frequency of the intracranial complications due to otitis media. But, inappropriate and inadequate use of antibiotics and the appearance of durg resistant strains of bacteria mask the clinical course and reveal atypical picture. Thus, physicians face with difficulties for the early detection of diseases. Recently, we experienced 4 cases of otogenic intracranial complications at department of otolaryngology, Catholic Medical College, between Jan. 1982 and Apr. 1984. 2 cases of them were cerebellar abscess, temporal lobe abscess in 1 case, and meningitis in 1 case.
