ABSTRACT

Laryngeal tuberculosis associated with active pulmonary tuberculosis was a common disease in the past, but it has become rare with the advent of antituberculous chemotherapy. Moreover, primary tuberculosis of larynx is now extremely rare. Authors have recently experienced a case of primary tuberculosis of larynx. Patient was a 30 year old woman with symptoms of coughing, sore throat and hoarseness. Laryngeal punch biopsy revealed it as tuberculosis but, her chest X-ray revealed nonspecitic finding, and tubercle bacilli could not be identified in sputum by smear and culture.
